Öhlins make shocks, fork internals and complete forks with a wide, usable adjustment range. Their real value is not a magic damping curve but that a competent setup shop can dial them to your weight and road, which most OEM units cannot be.

It helps most on bikes with a badly underdamped OEM shock, but the bike will then out-handle its forks. Fork cartridges or at least a revalve and correct springs keep the balance.
Treat it as a wear item: seals and oil every couple of seasons of hard riding, sooner if the unit weeps or the damping feels vague when hot.
