1. Test before buying

3. Lift it out
Remove the positive terminal and the strap, then lift the battery out level.

Fit positive first, then negative, and grease the terminals after tightening.
5. Check the charging system
Measure charging voltage at 3,000 rpm — 13.8-14.6V is healthy; anything higher cooks the new battery.
6. Condition it
