1. Support the bike
Put the bike on a paddock stand or centre stand on level ground and remove the caliper bolts.
2. Remove the caliper
Slide the caliper off the disc without stretching the brake line, then pull the pad retaining pin or clip.
3. Push the pistons back
Clean the piston faces and push them fully home so the new, thicker pads clear the disc.
4. Fit the new pads
Grease the slider pins lightly, seat the pads against the shim and refit the retaining pin.
5. Refit and torque
Refit the caliper and torque the mount bolts to the manufacturer's figure, typically 22-30 Nm.
6. Bed them in
Pump the lever until firm, then bed the pads with ten progressively harder stops from 60 km/h before riding hard.
