| Fastener | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Sump drain plug | 20–30 Nm | Always with a new crush washer. Alloy sumps strip easily above this figure. |
| Spin-on oil filter | 12–20 Nm | Oil the gasket first, then roughly three quarters of a turn past contact. |
| Cartridge filter cover bolts | 9–12 Nm | Tighten evenly across all bolts; a cocked cover weeps oil. |
| Oil level inspection bolt | 8–12 Nm | Small M6 into alloy — snug, not tight. |

1. Warm the engine
Run the bike for three or four minutes so the oil drains fully, then stop it and let it stand a minute.
2. Drain
Remove the sump plug and let the oil drain fully with the bike upright.
3. Change the filter
Remove the old filter, oil the new gasket, fit hand-tight then torque to spec — usually around 12-20 Nm.
4. Refit the plug
Fit a new crush washer and torque the sump plug; overtightening strips alloy cases.
5. Refill
Fill with the manual's quantity of JASO MA2 oil, run for a minute, then re-check on the level surface.
6. Record it
Note the odometer on a service sticker so the next interval is not guesswork.

Not on a wet-clutch motorcycle. Energy-conserving car oils contain friction modifiers that cause clutch slip. Use a JASO MA or MA2 rated oil.
Only while a warranty requires stamped service history. Otherwise an independent shop does the identical job for markedly less.
