Brakes

Lighting

Getting the torque right
- Torque figures assume clean, dry, undamaged threads. Oil on a thread can raise the real clamping load by 20% or more at the same wrench reading.
- Where the manual calls for thread-lock, the figure is a wet figure — apply the locker, then torque immediately before it cures.
- Tighten in two passes: to roughly 70% of the figure across all fasteners, then to the full figure in the same order.
- Replace, never reuse, any fastener specified as stretch-to-yield, and always fit a fresh crush washer on a drain plug.
