Category-by-category specs

Generic specs that hold across this model run. Always confirm part numbers against your VIN.

Engine & Filters

Oil filters, air filters, spark plugs and sump hardware. Motorcycles share oil between engine, gearbox and usually a wet clutch, so oil and filter quality matter more than on a car.

Oil specJASO MA2, viscosity per the owner's manual
FilterSpin-on cartridge or paper element, model-specific
Interval5,000-10,000 km depending on oil type and use
Install40 min · Easy

Brakes

Sintered and organic pads, floating discs and braided lines. Pads and fluid are the two cheapest upgrades that change lever feel more than anything else on a motorcycle.

Pad compoundSintered for all-weather bite, organic for quiet low-dust
Fluid specDOT 4 (DOT 5.1 where specified) — never DOT 5 silicone
Disc minimumTypically 4.0-4.5mm front, stamped on the carrier
Install45 min · Easy

Tires & Wheels

Sport, sport-touring and adventure rubber plus valves, rim tape and balance weights. Tires are the single largest handling variable on any motorcycle and the one riders leave longest.

Sizinge.g. 120/70 ZR17 front, 180/55 ZR17 rear
PressureCold, per the swingarm or chain-guard sticker
Service life5 years from the DOT date code, regardless of tread
Install60 min · Advanced

Electronics

USB chargers, phone mounts, lithium batteries and wiring accessories. Fuse every added circuit and take switched power from a relay, not directly from the battery.

System voltage12V, charging at 13.8-14.6V at 5,000 rpm
Battery typesAGM lead-acid or LiFePO4 lithium
Accessory fusing5-10A inline per circuit
Install45 min · Moderate

Lighting

LED headlight assemblies, sequential indicators and auxiliary driving lights. LED conversions cut current draw sharply, which is why indicator swaps usually need resistors or an LED flasher relay.

Voltage12V DC, regulated
Indicator loadLED needs 21W resistors or an LED flasher relay
ApprovalE-mark / DOT for road use
Install60 min · Moderate

Maintenance

Chain cleaning kits, lubricants, paddock stands and workshop consumables. A pair of paddock stands turns most chain and tire jobs from a garage bill into a 20-minute task.

Rear standSpool (8mm/10mm bobbins) or universal cradle
Chain lubeO-ring and X-ring safe
Torque range20-100 Nm covers most chassis fasteners

Parts that are year-specific on this bike

  • Bodywork and fairing panels — moulded per generation, never cross-generation
  • Seat pans and cowls — latch positions change with refreshes
  • Wiring, ECU and lighting connectors — often revised mid-run
  • Brake master cylinders and lever fitment — check the assembly, not the model name

Per-job figures and the full chart: motorcycle torque reference.

Getting the torque right

  • Torque figures assume clean, dry, undamaged threads. Oil on a thread can raise the real clamping load by 20% or more at the same wrench reading.
  • Where the manual calls for thread-lock, the figure is a wet figure — apply the locker, then torque immediately before it cures.
  • Tighten in two passes: to roughly 70% of the figure across all fasteners, then to the full figure in the same order.
  • Replace, never reuse, any fastener specified as stretch-to-yield, and always fit a fresh crush washer on a drain plug.
